Chlorine gas is used as fluxing agents in aluminium furnaces for the purpose of reducing alkali contents.

Chlorine gas is considered a hazard to the environment. It is most desirable to replace chlorine gas with a non-polluting agant.

Alcan has developed rotary flux injectors which use either salts such as a magnesium chloride base and nitrogen as a carrier gas. This flux is non-hazardous to the environment.

1. Replaces chlorine gas in holding furnaces.

2. Reduces alkalis to levels achieved with chlorine.

3. Fluxing through furnace door or dedicated opening.

4. Unit placed at or on the furnace.

5. Stirring action ensures teperature and alloy homogeneity.

6. Fluxing arm can be swivelled or fixed.
